Lah gorn (bye bye) Thailand (EN)

On the boat we made plans on how to get to Bangkok, of course they changed as soon as we set foot on land. Instead of a local bus we took a mini-van. Nearly hassle-free and let's face it: we are on holiday!
Our time in Bangkok was spend mostly shopping, although we did add a little culture to the mix and visited the Jim Thompson House. American-born Thompson was an intriguing chap both in life and in death. The expat lived in Bangkok in a home made out of six authentic Thai houses and helped revive the Thai silk industry by sending samples to European fashion houses. His charmed life came to a dramatic end when he vanished during a stroll in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands in 1967. Whether he was snatched by communist spies (he was a CIA agent), eaten by a tiger or run over by a Malaysian truck-driver, we will never know.
Shopping is big in Bangkok. So are the malls. Since men go out to buy something and women go out to go shopping, Peter came out with a couple shirt and I came out with nothing. You sooooo need a woman to shopping with... anybody interested?
Our last day (today) I had a last dip in the pool and we did some more shopping in the sense of souvenir-shopping. Also had a massage after all that walking. Nice... I think... My masseuse was a big mama with the hands of an... well, of a big mama actually.
And here we are, back at Villa Cha Cha waiting for time to pass. Traveling is waiting of course, but we really haven't had much waiting on our trip through Thailand. Mainly because of becoming flash-packers. But now the waiting takes on epic proportion compared to the last three weeks. We don't fly until 2.30 am and it is only 9 pm now. Our trusted driver will pick us up at 10 pm.
Bracing ourselves for the cold. Thanks for reading y'all!
Love, Caroline
